I think you answered your own dilemma.
I see that. I also know that I don’t like being lumped in to a category. I expect a stranger to do so, but not a friend. That’s part of what I admire about being conservative - we believe in personal responsibility. I feel we view people individually, unlike the left who like to lump people together, ie ‘it takes a village’, ‘social welfare’, ‘revolutions’ the whole thing. They tend to group people. I like to think we are individuals. But, I can’t surround myself with people who would betray a friendship for the sake of being part of the victim status.
