The iconic American children's book character Curious George is celebrating Ramadan in one of the latest books from the 75-year-old series.
It's Ramadan, Curious George was written by Pakistani-American Muslim author Hena Khan who stated she was glad the book was released during this contentious election season, particularly with Donald Trump's call for a ban on Muslim immigration.
"There's a very dangerous narrative being spread about Muslims and inaccurate things being said," Khan said. "[The book] comes at the right time in terms of trying to promote understanding and tolerance."
Khan has already written two children's books about Islam, according to Yahoo! News, but is excited to bring the "celebratory aspects" of Ramadan to such a beloved character:
"There's something different about having Curious George, a mainstream, well-known, iconic character recognize your tradition and make you feel included."
In the story, George accompanies his friend Kareem to a mosque to assemble charity baskets and the two attend different family gatherings in celebration of the month-long fast. Things go awry for the little monkey when he fails to control his hunger and falls over while working on the baskets. But in the end, George and Kareem are glad as "the room is filled with happiness and the peaceful sounds of prayer."
Khan said she was given freedom by the publisher, HMH Books, to "shape the project" and to make the holiday "approachable," according to the report.
George's treat of choice when breaking his fast? Chocolate-covered bananas.
The report attempts to quell any concern that Curious George is celebrating an Islamic holiday by reminding that he has also celebrated Christmas and Hanukkah in previous installments.

I think the suicide bomber, who flies over to Israel to blow himself up, is the last one. The one before that has CG cutting the head off of some teddy bears, getting ready for the next big “holy” celebration.
