Is a church a place of public accommodation and if so are congregations required to follow anti-discrimination laws regarding gender and sexual orientation?
Thats the issue raised by a brochure published by the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. They contend that any church that opens its doors to the public would be required to comply with sexual orientation and gender identity laws.

Thank you in the LORD, Jesus. This is sad day for America.
I’ve said that Trump will slow it down a bit.
The economic time bomb is going to go off, regardless.
Even Trump says this:

Ok I see. Well, it is my view that my churches got in the entertainment business and were afraid to piss any one off over their sin. I know that has not always been the case. I will tell you a first hand story. Our professional Christian went on a grand lavish vacation. In his stead a young assistant and youth minister was tasked with the message. As a digression he commented that abortion was murder and violated the commandments. Many stood and applauded the young man. Upon the return from the glorious travel, the main professional heard of the lament regarding the killing of babies. He called the young professional into his office and told him” if you ever mention abortion again here I will fire your butt”. So much for truth at the pulpit. We then moved into guitars, keyboards and drums and blue jeans with shirt tail out preaching tithing, which,of course, is not in the New Testament but that is for a different posting.
Well yes, that is a hollow organization masquerading as a church.
There are other forms of hollowness, such as “look how pure WE are (but let’s never dare rub elbows in private with sinners)” and that might be even less obvious, because the surface looks holier.
it is a matter of faith and belief. I understand your point and to some degree agree. I have great issues with the “institutional “ church. Actually, the word “church” was an intentional mistranslated not coming until 1611. The Greek was “Ekklesia” meaning the “called out “ or just the believers. It had nothing to do with the buildings and pews and salaries to professionals — or giving them money in the name of God , when God possesses all things now.
And here’s my own personal rant. Of course abortion is hideous, evil, wicked, iniquitous, horrible, &c &c. However it’s a part of a much bigger spiritual fester. Wherein the parents are not loving the children. They are disdaining gifts of God. If you take that red spot off of the big skin cancer, have you gotten rid of the big skin cancer? No you haven’t.
The hearts & minds people are right, but they may also not grasp how large their target needs to be. It needs to be a case of, as the Old Testament winds up saying, turning the hearts of the fathers to the sons and the sons to the father, lest God comes and strikes the land with a curse (that it invited).
I am not anti-anti-abortion; I am anti misframing the issue.
That is something that becomes easy to abuse, I agree. All of a sudden it’s about a big earthly “something” rather than about a purpose to worship that can be fulfilled with a minimum of resources.
And that lends itself to both kinds of hollowness.
And, I was recently listening through the book of Acts. The kind of fuel that made those churches go, looks and feels different from what we commonly see today in formal church institutions. They were sharing willingly with one another — not to invest in an edifice — because they knew that they all were believing and that it was going to a godly benefit they could directly see.
We CAN do things with a formal church building setting, let it never be said it is impossible. But it has peculiar temptations.
Absolutely. It was about control of believers in 1611 and it is to this day. I am a believer in the Son-ship of Jesus Christ because if that fails— we are all just going to take a long dirt nap.
And all humanity will be doomed to nothing but fiasco.
Be a big hit in winter time.
Federal facilities are already gender neutral. All that was required was a Fuhrer Diktat.
