In the olden days, on the social ladder, an actor like Matt Damon was considered to be just one step above a common street whore.

I have a friend who moved from the USA back to her country of birth, Australia-—just BEFORE the gun ban.
She runs a small horse breeding operation & her closest neighbor is over 20 minutes away. The authorities who MIGHT be able to protect her are MUCH FURTHER away.
She has had a number of incidents with roving thugs who have come to her ranch at all hours of the day.
She has had to resort to a couple of very nasty dogs for her protection & the protection of her breeding stock & her other personal items.
She is on the alert 24/7/365. She sold all her USA assets -—including a home which she owned free & clear. She now regrets making this move & cannot afford to move back because no one wants to live rural in Australia without a weapon for defense.

I thought that permits were available and non-banned classes of firearms were legal to own in Australia. Has your friend checked into it? Something like a lever-action carbine (.22 or centerfire) should be within reach, if the official use is “hunting pest animals on private land”, or something similar.
