My first thought, too. Huma was promised a Magic Carpet Ride and what does she get? Rumors of being a lover to that old, drunk hag, an embarrassment of a husband - plus she’s STUCK with him due to their child.

I think my son was possibly too grounded in conservatism his entire life to stay over “there” for long.... and in that case (the only thing getting me thru this) it will be time well spent for him to have seen the other side and to know he made a choice vs just following his parents. Fingers X’d!! (glad yours did the turn around)
Your son will almost certainly come around. He has a good foundation on which to grow, and I’m sure he’s very bright. He’s just getting this phase out of his system.
I look back at some of the things I believed—and did, blush blush—as a bleeding heart liberal in stunned amazement. But as Churchill said, at least it means a person has a heart. In time, the brain takes over. :)
