Romney: My Family Wants Me to Jump In the Race (Because they hate America and want Hillary to win)
Personal Liberty ^ | 7/1/2016 | Staff

Last year, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was serious about making one last bid for the White House. Only after realizing that Jeb Bush had already secured pledges from most of the top Republican donors did he decide to sit out the 2016 election. Of course, as it turned out, Bush – even with a reported $100 million war chest – could barely make a blip on the electoral radar. In the year of Donald Trump, the former Florida governor was just another victim.

Since then, Romney has become one of Trump’s biggest and most outspoken detractors. When the primary field had winnowed to three, Romney delivered a scathing speech attacking Trump, encouraging voters to support whichever alternative candidate had the best chance of winning in their state. Asked at the time if he might consider throwing his hat into the ring, though, he insisted that it was out of the question.

Romney hasn’t quite gone back on that assertion, but a new interview has many thinking that he’s leaving the door slightly cracked.

“My wife and kids wanted me to run again this time,” he said at the Aspen Ideas Festival last week. “I got an email from one of my sons yesterday saying, ‘You gotta get in, Dad – you gotta get it.'”

Would he? “The door is closed,” he maintained, “unless both candidates come to me and ask me to please save them. I think that’s unlikely. I can’t imagine the circumstances that would lead me to be in the race.”

Romney, of course, knows as well as anyone that he stands no chance of winning the presidency this year. As an independent, he probably wouldn’t even be able to get on enough state ballots to make a serious bid for the White House. And if the delegates revolt in Cleveland and nominate someone other than Trump, that someone will get trounced by Hillary Clinton.

In the meantime, he’s just another bitter Republican making it more difficult for the party to unite around the presumptive nominee. It was apparently not enough for him to personally cost the GOP an election; he wants to see to it that they lose in 2016 as well.

No doubt, Romney’s problems with Trump are heartfelt. No one’s suggesting that he put his concerns aside and endorse the New York billionaire.

But for God’s sake, put a lid on it. The voters have chosen. Deal with it.

Who knows? Perhaps the young man was suggesting an adulterous affair. And that 'you gotta?' Sounds like the email was sent from Obama.

Don’t forget Bob Dole, who has endorsed Trump! Big surprise there.

Tongue in cheek or not, that's just dumb.

Maybe he could run as Hillary’s running mate?

The door is closed,” he maintained, “unless both candidates come to me and ask me to please save them.

That reads like part of a comedy skit with Mitt on the couch in a psychologist's office, and a poker-faced, white-haired shrink responds by leaning back, putting his fingertips together and saying, "Ah, I zee. Tell me, Herr Romney… vehn did you virst komm to ze realizazion zat you could zave zem?"

Mitt's messianic complex gland is really overactive this election cycle. I'm starting to come around to the viewpoint that he really does see himself as the literal embodiment of the "white horse prophecy."

Mitt could have run last year.

But he saw Jeb’s huge warchest and ducked.

What you have is bitter jealousy and he’s kicking himself for not getting in the race when he had the chance.

He was afraid of Jeb. Trump wasn’t.

Mitt should quit whining and just go away!

If it makes Mitt feel any better, Trump would have done to him what he did to Jebbie Bush.

As a former RNC chair, Dole probably has more party loyalty than the Bushes. Oh, wait, GHWB is also a former RNC chair.

The man is a f*ckin’ coward.

Its all about him and his ego, not the good of the country.

He hates Trump because Trump took apart Jeb, something he couldn’t bring himself to do.

That’s why he isn’t the nominee. He had his chance four years ago and blew it.

He threw an eminently winnable election to Obama.

The arrogant POS reminds me of Australia’s Malcolm Turnbull: all hat and no cattle.

No wonder he lost.

The only reason the MSM will quote Romney is he is a convenient club with which to bludgeon Trump. Other than that, they despise him. In fact, Mitt, everyone despises you. Even the dog. Especially the dog.

But come November, either one would lose decisively to a career criminal.

Jeb Bush is owned and operated by the same forces that control Hillary - had he been nominated I have no doubt he would have won easily in November. He is on board with The Agenda, relatively scandal-free, and it was his turn.

Trump messed up the whole plan, and has forced the establishment to throw all of their support behind the career criminal, further eroding their credibility. Win or lose in November, he has damaged them.

I watched the Hillsdale College choir 4th of July presentation this morning right after I read about another 200 Iraqis being bombed to death in Baghdad.

When I saw the scene that depicted returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan I couldn’t help thinking that Bush I and Bush II surely realize that this entire global mess is mostly their fault. They had to attack Iraq after 9/11; they had to take Saddam Hussein out thereby removing the main stabilizing force in the middle east.

If the Iraq debacle hadn’t happened there would be no migration of Muslims into Western Europe and North America to destabilize our wobbly societies. We wouldn’t have so many young men coming back to society limbless.

Too bad Iraq hasn’t another Saddam Hussein. He may have been a dictator, but Jews and Christians could sleep securely and attend their synagogues and churches in peace. He not only protected them by maintaining an orderly society but he drove the Iranian mullahs crazy by his continuous bombings of Tehran.

In the 20th century I believe we had very few good to great presidents. Reagan, Coolidge, Harding. That’s it! The rest contributed to our present day problems.

Donald J. Trump could very well be the antidote to the evil that has taken over our state and central governments. He could by his constant hectoring cause a change in our politicized SCOTUS. Perhaps the two lesbians and the old crone and the swing voter and the Chief Justice will clear out. I believe our entire system of courts needs to be cleansed of the evil therein.

There is some justification in the ‘white horse’ corollary. He is rather like the back end of a horse....of any color.
