I for one am against gun violence. Those who attempt it should be shot.

You are right. This group published a lengthy "editorial" which repeats every liberal talking point on firearms, including "Although current laws require background checks at gun stores, purchases at gun shows do not require such checks" and " 40% of firearm transfers take place through means other than a licensed dealer." Both claims are factually untrue.
And, even though they are in an industry committed to relying on scientific studies and data, and even though they know the data doesn't support them:
"Although evidence to document the effectiveness of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 on the reduction of overall firearm-related injuries and deaths is limited, our organizations believe that a common-sense approach compels restrictions for civilian use on the manufacture and sale of large-capacity magazines and firearms with features designed to increase their rapid and extended killing capacity."
