Japan's Supreme Court has upheld the government's blanket surveillance of the country's Muslim community.
The court struck down the second appeal by Japanese Muslim plaintiffs against what they perceive as an unconstitutional invasion of their privacy and freedom of religion.
A 2010 leak of 114 police files revealed nationwide surveillance of Japanese Muslims. The files revealed that Muslim places of worship, halal restaurants and Islam-related organisations across the capital, Tokyo, were being monitored.

You DID know that Islam lets its adherents lie?
A country with some common sense. Bravo, Japan.
Long time!
Wow! Is that Mt. Fuji in the background in pic #2? So beautiful.
Going to die here .
Yes , Fuji-san !
Bay Bridge built in 1989 . 2800 feet long .
We could see it from our house.
The Japanese know who the hell they are, and hold fast to their borders, language and culture.
Kick savages out.
I remember looking around before we left, trying to memorize everything so that I would never forget.
Imagine fighting WW2, when the president announces that only Shinto Priests trained in Japan are qualified to be intel officers.
Everybody else in intel is fired, and charged with Nipponophobia, and their work is purged.
That is today, with the Muslim Brotherhood and Obama.
Everybody else in intel is fired, and charged with Nipponophobia, and their work is purged.
That reminds me a bit of the Zakim bridge in Boston.
You’re in MA I see . I’m originally from eastern CT . Born in 1952 .
Born in Maine. I’m a boomer. :)
a necessary step as long as enemy population is allowed to remain in your country
better yet: repatriate them to their own countries
then you won’t have to “violate their civil liberties” anymore
and you will be ALL THE SAFER
Must be wonderful to live in a sane country.
The Japanese have always been extremely xenophobic. It’s good to see they still are.
“Japan’s top court has approved blanket surveillance of the country’s Muslims”
Excellent.
I think they'll do fine with robotics.
Anyway, I don't understand the hysteria about Japan having low birth rates, like they're going to disappear in the near future. Japan is a small country, with the population clustered in confined habitable areas. They have over 126 million people. Compare this to the large land area of Russia with 143 million, or France with 64 million, or the U.K. with 65 million. Japan is crowded, and could do just fine with fewer people. And their forays into robotics will provide the means to care for an aging population and enrich the economy. They really don't need to import foreigners who will just screw up their nation.
