WASHINGTON (AP) -- Newly released emails show State Department staffers wrestled in December 2010 over a serious technical problem with then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's home email server. They temporarily disabled security features, which left the server more vulnerable to hackers. Weeks later, hackers attacked the server so seriously it was shut down.
AP update: This version updates with State Department clarifying that security features on the department’s computer system were disabled. An earlier version reported that the security features on Clinton’s home server were disabled.

That is the way I read it too. Hillary's server had already been bought and paid for by our enemies but they needed an attack vector and her e-mail server served as the launch pad into secured networks. Judicial Watch is doing some fine work here exposing the corruption (and most likely treasonous acts); I have to hand it to them after years of being disappointed by that outfit. Its up to us out here now to spread the word/information far and wide that he media will not so their hard work does not go to waste.

does the FBI have complete records of all this,
or was some of this stuff erased/wiped?

The cleverly worded AP Update at the bottom of the text in the body of this thread seems to be designed to make it seem that nothing went on with Clinton's server.Emails: State Dept. scrambled on trouble on Clinton's server
Days after the technical crisis, on Jan. 9, 2011, an IT worker was forced to shut down Clinton's server because he believed "someone was trying to hack us." Later that day, he wrote, "We were attacked again so I shut (the server) down for a few min." It was one of several occasions when email access to Clinton's BlackBerry smartphone was disrupted because her private server was down, according to the documents.
The AP reported last year that in the early morning hours of Aug. 3, 2011, Clinton received infected emails, disguised as speeding tickets from New York. The emails instructed recipients to print the attached tickets. Opening an attachment would have allowed hackers to take over control of a victim's computer.

Same for Russia, Putin is playing Mrs Bill Clinton like a radio.
The IG report also charges Clinton with being aware of hacking attempts but not notifying officials at the Department. I’m not sure how she would suspect any compromise unless security were deliberately shut off.
