Call up the old crew from the USS New Jersey, get them to Camden. Fuel her up, light the boilers, load some 16” rounds and sortie. Down the Delaware, around Cape May and up the Jersey Shore. Up the Hudson River to around 125th Street, and A, B, and X turrets to starboard 135 degrees. FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!
Glorious!
Yes, it looks better going up the East River, but there are three bridges (Brooklyn, Williamsburg, and Manhattan) to contend with. Besides the Hudson River firing point provides better ballistics onto the target. East River direct fire would just have the shells going through the building.
I’ve expressed that same thought here before. Though I didn’t take the ballistics into account.
I just wanted point blank range. Your scenario is probably better.
Why 125th Street? The UN is in midtown.
