“As long as its Russian Orthodox. And even it operates with his permission only. So believing that Russia will become the last bastion of traditional Christianty left on Earth is more than cynical. Its stupid.”
Educate yourself. The Orthodox Church is ancient and one of the “genuine “ forms of Christianity.
Evangelical churches, on the other hand, are a fairly new invention and have different practices and beliefs from the Original Christians. So why the bigotry against the Orthodox Church?
Yes, I know the Soviet Union persecuted the Orthodox and used the Church for their own ends. Fortunately, the true Orthodox Church is making a comeback in Russia.
The Russian Orthodox Church isn’t the only Orthodox Church. There is Greek Orthodox, Serbian Orthodox, Ukrainian Orthodox, etc. There are also the Oriental Orthodox Churches.
No, Russia is not the last bastion of Christianity. But neither is the U.S. In fact, many Protestants and Evangelicals are incredibly ignorant and bigoted about Eastern Christianity. In fact, I think that bigotry is why U.S. Christians aren’t too concerned about the Christians in Syria and Iraq. They don’t regard them as “real Christians”
I’m tired of that ignorance.
Well, then. If someone was making the argument that the U.S. is, you'd have a point. And I have nothing against Orthodox Christianity, either. Just those who don't understand that the Russian version operates at the permission of the state.
