That man was Ken McElroy in Skidmore, Missouri. There’s a really good book about him called “In Broad Daylight.” If I recall correctly, there were several shooters.

What I found interesting about this is that the Fed’s decided they needed to investigate it as oppose to it being just a “state” case. There is a reason certain “McElroy’s” of the world seem to do great evil and yet seem to skate thru the justice system. Was he a local member of Masonry or other illuminati groups? Why would the Fed’s want to look into the case....what particularly bothered them about this issue? Justice was not being served in this case so the people made an agreement and took care of ‘the problem”! This man was a major menace!

I don’t remember the several shooters part but the name and town come back, now you mention it. IIRC they did eventually find out who did it but IIRC the authorities concluded that “he had it coming” and while they didn’t want to promote vigilante justice that they weren’t going to punish it in this case.

If there is a book about it every gummint functionary needs to read it because there is a lesson in there. When gummint fails and “the folks” have to step in it leads to bodies in the street and blood in the gutters. They may find the job boring and the temptation to abuse the trust great but they all should have a photo of Ken McLemore lying in the street on their desk as a reminder of what happens when “they get it wrong”.

You recall correctly. McElroy thought he was just going to have some more fun bullying the whole town on a Sat PM. At least 8 townsmen waited for him, all armed. Ken had never seen this, didn’t know how to react. Seems most everybody got in a shot, and yes were remarkably accurate considering everyone in the town was totally blind. Good book BTW.
