The wild west was never even its wildest days that wild. Nearly everyone carried and knew how to use their weapons so random uncalled for shootings were indeed very rare. The reason that the OK Corral and the exploits of certain gunfighters like Billy the Kid are legendary is because they were rare and not every day events. Lawless zones like Chicago are the result of stupid political judgement based on wishes and votes rather than reality. IOW Democrats.
These savages and even the few law-abiding blacks within the neighborhoods hated the police. So, of course the police is going to back off so they don't get targeted by this corrupt administration and social justice warriors. What do you want them to do?
However terrible, what is tragic is there seems to be no protesting the carnage.
Not my problem. I don't venture into inner-city hellholes or support the political party that is responsible for blacks killing each other. Blacks need to look in the mirror, instead of blaming "The Man."
Libertarian law and order policies do not work in big American cities with large feral populations.

The solution is, obviously, to move all these ferals into the suburbs, into .gov subsidized homes, in order to get them away from each other, so that they stop killing each other and also that suburbanites might also benefit from Diversity!

You are so right. FReepers need to know history. ‘68 was my first year back to Chitown from Vietnam. There were 7 separate murders on just my block alone.
The citywide murder rate in ‘68 was extremely hgih. And contrary to one post, the police do NOT show up afterwards to record the event. Not then...not now..from what I hear.
In ‘68 a mixed ethnic street gang went into a “candy store” and demanded money for protection from the Hispanics moving into the area. The store owner refused. So the gang beat up the owner and his wife and left. The owner died of a heart attack 30 minutes later. The police never showed up. It is not in the police statistics.
In ‘69 I switched my political/community involvement to become isntensely involved with the 4 gangs that intersect turf on my corner in reaction to what I saw in ‘68. In one situation I personally pulled the attacker from the same gang that caused trouble in ‘68 and saved the life of an innocent (and naive) Hispanic.
The gang retaliated against me, which I welcomed as I could then take them to court. I pressed the issue in court and the gang went the other direction to burn down the lumber store at the other end of their turf (for not paying protection, of course).
During all that time, the police never got involved, not in responding to phone calls for the assault on the Hispanic... not for the gang’s retaliation against me.
On the other hand, the police got heavily involved and beat the crap out of a girl 15 when they ridiculed her hair style and she responded f...u... She spent several days in the lockup and then in juvie. And she didn’t even know it was the police she was saying fu to. She heard these guys behind her ridiculing her hair style and thought they were friends of her brother she was saying fu to.
I could go on with numerous stories about Chicago police. The good cop is a rare exception. The bad cop is common. The cop that is half good and half bad is most common. They will save the life of a kid’s life one day and beat the crap out of an innocent person the next day.
The mothers and fathers of these ne’er do wells must just be sick about this.

Well, it is a terrible thing to say. But can you dispute that is the truth? It is the truth.
What is true is it exposes the hypocrisy of the “Black Lives Matter”, and reveals them to be the Alinskyite racists that they are. THAT is a terrible thing to say, but it is also the truth.
There are a lot of Useful Idiots involved in the Black Lives Matter movement, just as they are involved in many other liberal endeavors. A good number of those followers are well meaning people who feel their hearts are in the right place, but the people who are pulling the strings, organizing, well...they are interested in the Alinskyite practice of exacerbating a problem to cause the maximum pain and anguish to achieve a political goal. The more pain they cause, the closer they feel they can get to achieving their political goals.
I take no joy in any of this. I think it is corrosive and damaging, but the activists who show up at city hall to protest the death of a black teenager at the hands of the police could absolutely care less about the legions of black teenagers who are murdered by other black teenagers. Their actions prove it. They are mute on the subject of black on black crime, especially since they have forced any semblance of law and order out of the areas that need it most.
They have deliberately and intentionally created a power vacuum, and as we know, nature abhors a vacuum. So that vacuum, created to serve a political end, is filled by the worst possible people, and the people who caused it move on to other things.
You and I can agree that this is a tragedy, but what is not a tragedy is how this tragedy came to be. How it came to be is immoral and should be criminal.
It IS what they wanted. I am strongly inclined to believe there is malice behind “what they wanted”, but I also keep my mind open to the possibility that, being liberals, they don’t take the time to think even the most minor thing through to its logical conclusion, and the terrible things we see in Chicago (and other liberal controlled areas) are due to ignorance and incompetence.
It is either ignorance/incompetence or malice. I don’t see a third option.
