What reasonable person would expect to be in a large nightclub that had only a SINGLE doorway?
Just about the first thing I do in any new venue is look for the exits.

Same here. It seems it would be wise for us to also physically visit the exits up close to verify they are not padlocked. Often at a restaurant, theater, stadium, mall, or wherever...I see them and my assumption is they have those "crash bar" handles to function as expected.
