Get busy, Louisianans, and get this dangerous 'progressive' out of your state house.
Education Etouffe!
I am conflicted on Common Core - against it because the current regime and Washington liberals are usurping state and community control over education.
Separate from the ham handed implementation, I do think the goals of common core are laudable in terms of creating a more workforce-ready citizenry in a rapidly changing 21st century and for trying to bring some accountability to the powerful education unions.
It is not just the governor, it is the liberal educational bureaucracy in Louisiana and the other 49 states. The educational bureaucracy is pushing Common Core nationwide.
When any well meaning person recommends getting rid of Common Core and turning control of the curriculum back over to state control, it is turning the curriculum back over to Common Core adherents. The politicians in Louisiana are too stupid to care or are bought off.
The liberal educational bureaucracy is always willing to bite on the next educational fad, as long as it is anti-American and anti-Christian.
Huey P. Long’s legacy and common core belong in the same sentence.
Are you aware of the way math is “taught” with Commom Core or the outrageous emphasis used in selection of topics of US History? This is in addition to having one company control all testing materials used.
Ping
Check the math books.
Does 2+2=4 or is that the incorrect answer?
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
