She Went From Being an Abortion Clinic Owner to a Pro-Life Activist. Here’s How

Carol Everett was the owner of two abortion clinics and the director of four. She has since become pro-life and now shares her story to further the pro-life movement.

Everett’s association with the abortion industry began in 1973, after her husband and physician pressured her to abort her third child. The mental effects of her abortion sent her life spiraling downward. She said she began drinking, had an affair, and eventually left her husband.

She then started working for a medical supply company. Through this job Everett said she saw how much money is available in the abortion business, and she began to open her own abortion clinics. She recently told Life Talk TV that she also was motivated by a need to justify her own abortion.

After leaving the abortion industry in 1983, Everett began working in pro-life groups, according to a previous LifeNews article. She did this until founding The Heidi Group in 1999, a group designed to coordinate life-affirming medical services for the women of Texas.

Everett explained the organization: “We work with anyone and anybody who contacts us. We set them up with the pregnancy center nearest them (and) we use a program tailored to that individual so it can be very different.”

Because of her unique experiences within both the abortion business and the pro-life movement, Everett is able to speak to the many facets of the movement.

Everett offered advice for a woman considering abortion:

Get some counsel from someone who is not inclined to make money from your decision. Don’t go to an abortion clinic where they’re going to make money, go to a pregnancy health center. [They don’t charge you for their services.] Sit down; discuss all your options because an abortion is not your only choice. Life is a choice, adoption is a choice, parenting is a choice. Consider all the choices. Do not rush into anything. Someone else’s life and your life depend on your decision.

Everett also encouraged pro-lifers to continue their tireless fight to defend unborn lives. She explained the importance of being present at an abortion clinic during the 1987 Meet the Abortion Providers conference.

“Every time you pro-life activists are standing in front of the clinic you are holding a light on inside that clinic,” Everett said. “You are holding those people accountable.

“That day they are less likely to do an abortion on the woman who is not pregnant, or the woman who is too far along. The abortionist who brags about doing eight, ten, even twelve abortions an hour will slow down. He’s afraid of you.”

Because of her experience with abortion, Carol Everett has become a powerful activist for the pro-life movement. She continues to use reveal the realities within the abortion industry and to speak out on the sanctity of life.

I had the privilege of meeting with and praying with this exceptional woman during the mid 1990’s. I still have the little feet she gave me. Her book “Blood Money” should be required reading for all interested in prolife work, and belief.
