Anyone who buys their own groceries knows that food prices have at least doubled over the last few years. Canucks are just catching up?
Government idiocy is at least in part to blame. 40% of the US corn crop is made into worthless ethanol enriching farmers and a few big ethanol producers, but boosting food prices for everybody else and wasting billions in government subsidies of the ethanol boondoggle.
It is nowhere near that bad.
Drop a few Labatt’s Blue out of your diet and the veggie increase is easily covered.
Not too long ago ground beef was $1.89/pound, now tomato’s are $1.99/pound and ground beef is $.59/pound.
