‘Confidential’? That’s INSIGNIFICANT compared to the TS and above stuff in her emails. The reason she said she didn’t receive anything “MARKED classified” is because she KNEW she was getting LOTS of classified information that WASN’T marked as such but STILL classified nonetheless. A SECRETARY OF STATE CANNOT ARGUE he or she didn’t know something was classified. They of ALL people know what’s classified and what isn’t.

Anybody who has ever handled classified knformation knows that a (C) preceding two lines of text means Confidential which may seem insignificant but it is literally marked classified.

What they are basically saying is that her staff did an exceptional job of stripping all the classified markings, except for that one email.

I would still like the originators to be allowed to do comparisons of the emails to the source documents for evidence of cutting and pasting. That would be exceptionally hard to refute.

One or two pieces of Confidential may be "insignificant" in the big picture. Thousands of pieces can draw a picture of some very secret and damaging data.

Not only should she recognize what SHOULD be labeled with one of the levels of classification, as the Sec. State and the top dog in the State Dept. she personally has the ability—and the duty— to assign a classification label on a document.
