A bunch of steroid-jacked guys behind million-lumen spotlamps yelling conflicting instructions like:

"Stand down! I said STAND DOWN motherf*cker! Stand down, NOW!"

Whoever created that absurd command,anyway? Does it mean stand there with hands over your head? Lay down on your belly?
No matter what, an officer can say you were NOT obeying his "specific" orders.

"I told him/her to stand down and they menacingly started to lay on their belly as if preparing to wrestle me to the ground. I feared for my safety and shot the homeowner. I went home safely at the end of my shift, though."

And when you ask if there is some more reasonable way to address the public, they distract the discussion by complaining how easy it is to get shot.

What ever happened to courage. If you are going to get commended for showing it, it might be a good idea to show it in the first place.
