CARACAS, VENEZUELA – Venezuela’s most recent initiative to deal with the widespread food shortages? Some 9,000 “committees” across the country made up of government loyalists are now directly handling the distribution of whatever groceries are still available.
Under the new provision, the selected members of the committees (known as CLAP for its Spanish acronym) are authorized to take truckloads of some food products from supermarkets, warehouses or state-run companies and distribute them directly to families – which have previously been “surveyed” by such committees.

The Democrat Party would LOVE to have direct control over food distribution in the USA.
Guess who’ll get the food ... and who won’t.
If the loyal socialists are gonna distribute food they’ll need to eat their full first ... can’t be efficient if you’re hungry after all....
No doubt. And if you read the article, the Venezuelan people understand who will get the food under this program as well.
You are perceiving the problem differently from the way the Party sees it. They see the problem as one of Party members going hungry.

This is an attempt to improve party discipline.
Hand out greatly desired benefits and great power (you kowtow or starve) and give them a good reason to stick with the program.
I can think of several big time liberals that would have near cosmic orgasms if they could control the masses with food or any other staple.

I’d say you are looking at the final hundred days of this government. When the depots and stores are empty...no one will reorder, and the whole system fails in a matter of days.
Media (here and at Venezuela, but mostly here) is controlling everything coming out of Caracas.
In fact you won’t be hearing/seeing any of the graphic “public lynching’ happening there right now.
It won’t “work,” but it’s logical. Those at the top of the Party apparatus get fed first. It’s for the best, for the people, for the Revolution, you see.
Free markets and a stable currency would help. But we can’t have that now, can we?

Sure, put the political cronies in charge of food distribution, that makes such perfect sense.
In Bolshevik Russia they were called “Food Confiscation Committees”.
Venezuela ... the new North Korea where the army and elites eat.

It will work fine if the goal is to keep your supporters well fed and loyal and to let people starve that didn’t support you anyway.
