Well, Gordie was from Floral, Saskatchewan and truly he was a regional hero.

This will be bigger news in Canada and Michigan.

Gordie and his family were much loved here in the Hartford, Connecticut area. Howie finished his career with the Hartford / New England Whalers.

Back in the day he had (or loaned his name to) a great restaurant in Glastonbury, CT called Gordie's Place. I'm pretty sure he lived in Glastonbury for several years.

He was one of the giants of the NHL, and from all accounts, an overall good guy. Rest in Peace, Gordie...
