I live a hundred miles from Austin, and this is the first time I’ve heard about there being over 80 cases of rock throwing on I-35 in Austin.

It is a very common summer night activity for utes/amish kids in most states.
When I was in college many years ago, we used to row against Columbia in races on the Harlem River. The university had a cabin cruiser follow the boats up the course that had a police sharpshooter with a sniper rifle on top. He was there to scare and potentially shoot any of the locals on the bridges that might throw things at the rowers as they passed underneath.
I understand that at some point earlier, a local had thrown a rock or brick off a bridge and killed a rower.
It’s a crime more often committed all over the country with both rocks and bullets.
Maybe the media will call it rock rage in order to glorify the criminals and cause more problems for their reporting. The politics of outrage: very lucrative.
