Knowing he is mooted about as a possible VP, he still says what he thinks. I have an idea he’d say the same thing to Trump face to face. He mostly agrees with Trump but doesn’t mind saying when he doesn’t.
Trump no doubt has lots of yes-men, but I suspect he likes having someone like Newt in his circle who isn’t afraid to say what he thinks. Newt is too old to be VP, he really has nothing at this stage to lose. He’d make a good chief of staff for just that reason.
That had been my otiginal thought too—CofS. But not after this weekend. That kind of moral preenimg at his boss’s expense is the last thing you want in a CofS.
