The Code of Conduct for United States Judges, which states explicitly that Canon 2: A Judge Should Avoid Impropriety and the Appearance of Impropriety in All Activities. It isnt necessary that the judge is actually behaving with impropriety. It is sufficient that his conduct appears improper, something that impairs confidence in the judiciary as a whole, regardless of the judges actual motives and conduct... Member of La Raza [The Race ]

Here’s why Newt causes some to question his being the VP nod. You just never know when he’s going to say something like this.
Alberto Gonzoles has said that it is entirely appropriate for Trump to question the judge’s heritage, connections, etc. If the judge is a member of LaRaza (or whatever it’s called) then he should not be on this case.

Meet shot his mouth off without knowing the facts. Scratch him from the VP list, if he was ever on it.

I guess Curiel being a member of La RAZA ( the race) and working on their legal team pro -bono does not give him a bias Newt?
you are wrong
Donald is right and you would have been an excellent VP but probably just pooched your shot...so good luck
To: maggief
Dear Newt. Judge Curiel is associated with La Raza. THAT makes the difference. His sympathies are not with his country of birth if he’s with La Raza. He needs recuse himself, and let another judge handle the case.

Alberto Gonzalez disagrees with Gingrich.
Did Trump mention the judge’s LA raza connection at the same time as the Mexican comment ?

There’s definitely some shenanigans going on there with the unredacted stuff.
Mind you though, this is not going to help Trump, and a good counter of scummy actions by the opposition will be needed, even so, it’s disheartening.

Newt turning on Trump. Maybe found out he’s not going to be VP. I see it as a clear conflict of interest.

well Trump did say he wouldn’t have a problem with the judge’s judgment if the judge sided with him (Trump). :-)

Gingrich airing criticisms like this in such a highly public manner tends to discredit the notion that he’s found his way into the Trump inner circle. I suspect Trump is actually open to critique and does correct course on that basis, but taking it public right off the bat isn’t going to go over well at all.

Both judges and the press have been above the law for a long time in this country. Nice to see a candidate who treats them like the pigs they are.
