He wouldn’t have seen a minute of combat. The army wanted him to be a sideshow, boxing soldiers on R&R etc...

He stood his ground and paid a price. Not saying he was right or wrong, but he didn’t dodge the draft. He was stripped of his belts and was in and out of jail in the years he was most formidable.

Whatever. RIP.

The army "officially" denied that. The official position was that he would be treated like any other recruit. IOW, he was "officially" being drafted as cannon fodder for LBJ.
