“Don’t make me laugh. He had no convictions. He was a draft dodger. “

He didn’t “dodge the draft.”

He refused to serve in a war he thought was wrong and willingly paid the legal price. To the end of his life he was not bitter about his sentence. A close friend asked him about it and Ali shrugged his shoulders and said, “I did what I had to do and the judge did what he had to do.”

“He refused to serve in a war he thought was wrong “

Horesh*t.

he did whatever his Nation of Islam handlers directed him to do.

If you were ever around him it was obvious he had the mentality of a child.

Vietnam was just a violent intelligence gathering exercise where US citizens drafted were used as political pawns/games. Anger should be directed at the entity that caused the useless deaths, rather than those who reacted.

What is worse: Politicians/contractors/intelligence agencies who had no desire to win while sending citizens off to die or US citizens calling their "patriotic" bluffs?

"A highwayman is as much a robber when he plunders in a gang as when single; and a nation that makes an unjust war is only a great gang." -Benjamin Franklin

China was the center of gravity in that region (Only means of winning was destroying that COG), but WWII fatigue along with the evolving nuclear threat rendered the US hopeless. Should of just stuck with fortifying Taiwan and Japan then waited.
