I admired his boxing as a kid. I have to say, however, that he was a Muslim braggart - and I am sorry that he is in the place where he is now.

One of the first name changing Muslim’s I became familiar with. Cassius Clay will be his name to me, if I spelled it correctly.

Probably the best boxer of all time, but he was used by the Nation of Islam
as a propaganda tool...his associations with Elijah Muhammad and Malcolm
X and his refusal to serve his country tarnish what he achieved in the ring
greatly.

I saw Norton break his jaw. Remarkable that he kept on his feet and ‘went the distance’.

If knocking brains around in football injures brains for life, then intentionally beating brains in boxing should result in some obviously impaired senior boxers.
Ali was a good boxer in his day. It made him rich and totally incapable of enjoying it

Ironic that we refer to him using an adjective that Muslims reserve for Allah.

Useless piece of garbage. Vietnam is where the men were, while dimwits like Ali supported the enemy.

One of the greatest boxers and entertainers of the era. He and Cosell made boxing exciting, and they were made for each other for the times they lived in.
Rest in peace, champ.

Obnoxious loudmouth whose self-promotion gave rise to worthless athletic "heroes" like Dennis Rodman, Charles Barkley, and a host of imitators.

IMHO, because of greed (maybe not his) he took a beating from Larry Holmes that probably caused his medical problems.

How many times did we watch him cower and cover in the corner for 12 of 15 rounds and then still win the fight on a decision???
