“He and Frazier were among best.”

Yep. Irrespective of all the rest of it, Ali was IMHO the greatest fighter of all time, exactly as he phrased it. Very interesting how style and match-ups also play into boxing. Frazier was also absolutely great, and his style was difficult for Ali, but easier for Foreman. On the other hand, Ali handled Foreman masterfully. Attesting to how great this generation of boxers was is the fact that Foreman was able to come out of retirement at 45yrs of age and regain the heavyweight crown.

Photo from much better days.
I miss Ronald Reagan, tremendously.
He never let us down.
We’ve let him down...

Neither you or I know whether he did or not.

Stop throwing stones.

He bragged a lot but he backed it up. And it ain’t bragging if you can back it up.

Best heavyweight fighter ever. Loved the way he would tease Cosell.

RIP

Save your prayers for the living.

I don’t know his heart when he went, but there’s nothing to do for it now.

When asked what he thought of Africa, after fighting Foreman in Zaire, Ali’s response was, “Thank God my Granddaddy got in that boat.”

OH, if did go back to the faith of his fathers, he might be in heaven. If he abandoned Jesus as his Savior for a false moon-god, then he’s not.

The ability to defy all the standard principles of boxing like that, and slip punches like that, is astounding and amazing. It’s so ironic that a human being with reflexes like that that were arguably among the top .00001% of all human beings ever, wound up slowed so much by Parkinson’s. Sad. I don’t think we’ll likely ever see someone with that unique set of skills again - especially among heavyweights.

But he was principled enough to stand trial for his politics... He didn’t run to Canada.
