Who will pay the bills?
It does not matter to totalitarians. It reminds me of the scene from the Matrix movie where Neo pretty much says to the machine dictator that it can't survive without humans and it replies:
"There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept."
That comes right out of the French Revolution where they were about to Guillotine a scientist and a plea was made to save his life for a little while longer to have him complete his work and the revolutionary judge says the revolution has no need for scientist.
