Limbaugh signed a $400 million, eight-year contract in 2008 with what was then Clear Channel Communications making him the highest paid broadcaster on terrestrial radio. His contract is up for renewal in 2016 with the show facing declining ratings, an aging listenership, and a strained relationship with advertisers due, in part, to the Sandra Fluke controversy. In addition, Limbaugh's carrier, now known as iHeartMedia, is in a much poorer financial position than it was in 2008 as it now carries $20 billion in debt and has seen its stock price drop from $90 in 2000, when it was still known as Clear Channel, to $1.15 in 2016.
I've been listening since 1988. I agree with Rush about 50% of the time. (That's still much better than Obama, who I disagree with about 99.6% of the time.) Sometimes Rush comes up with ideas that are extremely insightful -- and sometimes he doesn't.
Listening doesn't cost me anything. For free, it's well worth the price!
Wrong. They don't call it Propagandico.com for nothing.
He's collapsing because he's embracing the Republican establishment.
Rush is better than ever. One of a kind!
Yup, Rush is in trouble, Trump’s campaign is fading. I put that right up there with: Hillary is competent, Ronald Reagan is a fool, the internet will never go anywhere, automobiles are a fad...
If anyone is in trouble it has to be Hannity.
I find myself listening to the new up & commers such as Rich Zieoli on 1210 WPHT in Philadelphia via IHeart internet radio. WABC & WOR in NYC, programming has become stale. I do listen to Rush everyday via internet, through my iphone, in my car & at home.
Rush is 65.
A three-hour broadcast every weekday would be a challenge to keep interesting.
He’s got plenty of money. He may want to retire within a few years. Maybe even after the November elections. I wouldn’t blame him.
I consider Rush equivalent to the founding fathers of this nation. He has been a radio Paul Revere for decades, warning about liberalism (what leftist now call progressivism).
The communist in America would love nothing better than to get rid of Rush.
I pause with suspicion at people on this board who talk negative of Rush. It is a telling sign of liberal trolls.
Rush had his glory days but everything changes and cycles in and out. He will still have some sort of show if he wants it.
Look at old man Don Imus— who listens to him anymore yet there he is.
I still chuckle at when Michael Savage gloated about how he took over the Detroit area 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. slot on WJR here in Detroit when they "dropped" Sean Hannity.......
The reality was that Sean was at the end of his contract with his parent company (I don't remember the name) and signed on with a new one that immediately placed him in their own local stations - both 1440 AM AND 92.7 FM in the 3:00 - 6:00 PM time slot....an extra hour more than he had with WJR........LOL!
LOL.
I’ve never heard of the twit that wrote this crap.
Nothing new here. Some national advertisers have been sending out notices to radio stations for at least two decades warning stations not to air their commercials in or "adjacent" to Rush's program.
Yet another commie lib written obituary in their endless line of Limbaugh obituaries.
Flush Limpbar. Did he everything he could to sink the Nationalist/Populism uprising. All he is is a sheepdog, herding the people, so they don’t stray far from the GOPe/Rino elites.
He’s never been the same since he had those issues back in ‘01/’02. Became a total Bushbot and party hack. And rarely funny. You could tell he was on a short leash. Painful and sad to listen to.
Rush has been one of the more stable radio voices. I had a moment after Obama’s second usurpation (lol) where the whole talk radio thing seemed like a total sham. No real power, no real influence except preaching to the choir, helping us to not feel like we were crazy.
It hit me that regardless of his importance, Rush was POWERLESS in the end but would sail on with his mega millions. The chaos has been good for HIM.
I realized that wasn’t fair to him and I occasionally listen on the way to work. But I don’t think any of it makes a difference. My sense is they’re all collapsing because of this shared disillusionment.
Covetous Politico dreams of an audience the size of Rush’s
I will always love Rushbo!
