Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” The Wall Street Journal’s deputy editorial page editor Bret Stephens argued against presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s candidacy and said he must be “decisively rebuked” to the point that it will teach Republican voters a “lesson.”
“I most certainly will not vote for Donald Trump,” Stephens said. “I will vote for the least left-wing opponent to Donald Trump and I want to make a vote to make sure that he has — that he is the biggest loser in presidential history since, I don’t know, Alf Landon or

They keep speaking of this “lesson”, as if we had an infinite amount of time for a do-over, and failure to learn the consequences of the “lesson” would not be catastrophic.
There are only a few ways to get out of the way of an avalanche, and I do not believe this course of action would be effective.

Patton would have gotten to Berlin a WEEK before the Russians, if, after the first crossing of the Rhine, he had not been called to stand fast by no less than FDR himself. The order was to PAUSE the advance near Oppenheim along the Rhine, and wait for Montgomery to catch up. Patton said later he should have smashed all his radios and made the surge anyway.
Patton would have utilized the captured German troops, armed them as provisionals, and not stopped the advance until he was in Moscow. Darned right the Allied High Command were collecitvely crapping their pants.
