Actually, they don’t weld the legs to the deck, they place a “shoe”over the legs,then weld that to the deck.
That doesn’t damage the leg “pads”.
Go to youtube, you can watch carrier landings from whichever perspective you chose.

That’s exactly what I was referring to. You had to land the ship before you ran out of fuel and it looked happenstance. All of the previous real landings I saw were similar to the game. This landing looked like stopping a car.
yea i really admire Elon Musk.
