Fun speculation, and maybe some "wishful thinking" on the part of some who entertain the thought.
I see zero chance of Trump offering the VP slot to Sanders, just because Trump wants to build an efficient and effective executive teeam for capitalism and against Washington, and Bernie would be a slug in that operation, at best.
I'm not so certain an economic mechanism is Trump's primary objective. That is, while it may be a means to an end, it's not the chief goal.
Rather, I think if we start with a completely blank slate, which is essentially what Trump is proposing, the core idea is to restore America as an independent, sovereign nation bound by a set of laws. The role of government would then return to serving the interests of the citizenry ie We the People.
If we use that as a starting point, then we can begin to diagram how one gets there exactly. Since Trump is a real estate developer, he knows very well that preparing a piece of property and laying a proper foundation is key.
With respect with the US, we have 30+ years of deep rooted corruption that needs to be yanked out by its roots. Bernie is fully aligned with this, which is of course why he has garnered such wide support.
Long before the country can be pointed in the "right" direction, it first has to stop, repair the extensive damage, and then begin the long process of once again getting underway.
Bernie gives Trump a 50 state, 60% mandate to "go medieval" on the DC-NY-LA axis of corruption.
