I read Trump's plan; I would not characterize myself as a fan of his (or Cruz for that matter). I think his plan would drive competition and lower rates by eliminating the stupid 'state lines'.

Thats over 20k per year. What if you just put 1000/month into savings and used that to pay cash for any medical issues?

I pay 1900 a month for COBRA That is in the ballpark for my employers Cobra HMO family plan. If you want the national plan, it is $2500 per month. It doesn't make any sense to buy these plans unless your in the middle of treatment or your age is such that purchasing private insurance would have a similar cost. A family of 4 with spouses around 40 can buy gold level insurance for around half of the figures above.
