The UAW today endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, citing her support for UAW members, her lifelong commitment to the job security of American families, and her ability to unify and win in November.
Hillary Clinton understands our issues on trade, understands the complexities of multinational economies and supports American workers, their families and communities, said UAW President Dennis Williams.
Now is a time for unity, a time to focus on what lies ahead in November. Bernie Sanders has brought to this campaign a dialogue that has been needed for far too long. He has been, and remains, a great friend of the UAW, and of working men and women in this country. But, the fact is, Hillary Clinton has shown under pressure her ability to lead and get elected in November.
The UAWs directors went through the process of surveying and listening to members for input into the campaign season. We are a family of over 1 million active and retiree members with strong opinions. Now, we have to choose between two very good UAW friends and move forward as a united membership, said Williams.

Back in my union days (79-95), every member that ever served in the armed forces hated Bill with a passion and never voted for him. I doubt most will vote for the Beast this time around.
IMHO her only real rank and file union support will be from SEIU types.
The only thing Shillery cares about is jumping into bed with her Muslim assistant, booze and cocaine. She doesn’t care about us, her country, her husband, or even her daughter. Total POS! Satan will welcome her with open arms.
The leadership, not the “rank-and-file”.
As I said, the rank and file will more likely than not vote for Trump
Fixed it.
Because Gangsters work together
“Please, do not attempt to explaine unions if you do not know anything about same.”
I was an involuntary member of Retail Clerks International from 1971-1979. They had a couple of guys whose only purpose was to persuade people. They were good at it.
My father started the credit union for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Tampa. Disgusted by the corruption, he ran for the presidency of the local. Several men from the union appeared at our door one night while we were having dinner. My father took a snub-nosed revolver out of his pocket and went to talk to them at the front door. They wanted him to step outside. He, a combat veteran from WWII convinced them to leave. At work he had a constant guard of supporters. He lost the election, which relieved my mother no end.
Yes, there were bad conditions which led to the formation of the unions. But my experiences with them and on subsequent jobs as an engineer, was entirely negative.
I am pleased that you retired with your pension. I believe if it were not for the intervention of the government that your pension would have been at severe risk as many of those pensions were the slush fund of the Mafia and corrupt officials.
Both of those things happened a long time ago.
And in other news today, GOP presumptive nominee Trump thanked UAW leadership for the wedge issue, promising to drive it between union leaders and the rank and file.
Stupid is as stupid does.
has gone
Always was
Knowingly backing a verified liar and a felon, a position all Unions and Democrats will have to deal with. If there are still a few Dems (somewhere) with a smidgen of morality left, they should be targeted to vote Green, stay home or Trump.
Meanwhile when Trump attacks NAFTA Joe-6-pack will have to scratch his head.
If you are a 55 year old Union Auto Worker you have seen your friends and buddies kicked to the curb. Yes you survived because you happened to be at a plant that didn’t relocate. But deep down you know you are lucky.
I grew up in a GM town, to a UAW retiree and my dad actually defends NAFTA in the sense that you’ll never change it now. But it’s fun to make the old man back peddle. He is my father and I try not to embarrass him but I do like force him into defending it.
But Gen-X auto-workers who shoot guns, hunt and fish, will be thinking who cares what the UAW wants me to do. These Reagan democrats and now Trump democrats come from white working class people who are not shamed into voting democrat.
