It actually seems to be almost like a trance-like state. Seriously. It's as though self-preservation has been shut off and replaced by self-loathing. It's like a cataracts that needs to be removed and the lens replaced so that the truth can be seen again.

I was thinking the exact same thing. When a minority group isn’t acting in the virtuous manner they expect of them, they spew these pre-programmed ideas that blame the action on someone else.

This is likely how conquered peoples feel and act, after they’ve given up. I never understood how the Christians in the Middle East were so often apologists for Islam despite the second class status and pogroms against them, but now it is obvious - when survival depends on self-flagellation and the people who do it best get to have higher status than their peers in society, it is a race to the bottom in terms of grovelling.
But Europe has given up its right to be independent and secular before it is conquered - and it imports its invaders while giving them the Danegeld.
