The Lee Amendment to defund President Obamas Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation failed in the Senate yesterday because not enough Republicans backed it. The Amendment was tabled by a vote of 60-37.
Jeremy Carl aptly describes this vote as a defeat for conservatism, community control, and common sense. It is a victory, as Carl says, for turning the federal government into a National Zoning board, forcing high density housing on unwilling cities and towns, and letting bureaucrats decide the racial, ethnic and income balance of local communities.

The Trump solution should abolish HUD.
We need a Constitutional Conservative who can get an amendment passed, that they can ignore with impunity, that will fix it.
Governors that ignore the power the 10th gives them are useless.
Now that is a Cruznadian answer if I ever saw one.
They have tried for thirty years to inject low income housing into the city of Indian Wells CA, near Palm Springs. Indian Wells used to have the richest population per square foot of any city in the US maybe not now but still full of the well to do. Maybe they will finally get it done, and the locals will be able to have new bridge partners.
That is all? Some here might think that is more than enough while some think stirring the pot will some how magically produce the perfect candidate. Others here think that strategy is more likely to create martial law. But keep it up otherwise this forum might get boring. </s>
And that has produced exactly what? Has he came out and condemned the leadership for this latest travesty? Um no he is busy trashing Trump.
Gay marriage, obamacare, little sister of the poor, small bakers, Hinnican....to name a few.
This was a question that referred to military use...I don’t understand your view...Sorry....
Traitors.
He was instrumental in making sure Obama couldn’t kill Americans on American soil, for starters. Look up his record - 99 times out of 100, we couldn’t ask for someone better.
D@mn straight Go Hillary!
Voting right is not the same as accomplishing something.
I know the difference. We do one, we don't do the other.
I encourage you to evaluate him more thoroughly before casting him into the everlasting fires of Hell.
OK...I see....
I have no power to do that. I have admired him for a long time even considered he would make a much better candidate than Cruz and he would have.
Sadly there is a very corrupt voting system in both Houses whereby a member can maintain a very high conservative record without ever really moving the conservative agenda forward and it is by design.
That’s something that is controlled at the leadership level. Boehner and Ryan and to a slightly lesser extent McConnell are the primarily responsible parties.
I see our RINO senator Johnny Isakson voted against the Lee amendment. You can always count on him to disappoint.
What I was replying to was a post vilifying Mike Lee. Just a few short months ago it was generally recognized that Mike Lee is a conservative, a friend of the constitution and one of the most consistent and best minds in the Senate.
People on here have become so brainwashed by the religion of Trumpism that they now knee jerk react to a story with the name “Mike Lee” by spouting off a criticism simply because he endorsed the other guy. (even though their criticism was actually 100% misguided)
As I have said, I will almost certainly vote for Trump. But, I will also continue to criticize his liberal policies, I will criticize FR posters who support liberal policies and I will counter arguments made against life long conservatives.
I have been posting here a while and lurking a lot longer. My experience is that this is a conservative forum not a cult of personality worshiping forum. If my insistence on conservatism is labeled “stirring the pot” and gets me banned....so be it.
