Here's the thing I don't get about Tom Brokaw. He's the one who wrote The Greatest Generation, which is probably more responsible than any other single source for engendering in the modern public the respect for the World War II generation that they so richly deserve. Surely, the author of that book must be aware that those great men used guns (and bombs, torpedoes, etc.) to defeat our country's enemies. Even if Brokaw himself doesn't like guns, can't he at least read his own book and realize how indispensable they were (and still are) to preserving our freedom?
