A Home Depot employee is causing quite a stir online after a photo of her in her trademark orange apron and a hat that read America Was Never Great went viral. I was honestly shocked I didnt expect any of this to happen, Staten Island resident Krystal Lake, a Bernie Sanders supporter, told the Staten Island Advance. A spokeswoman from Atlanta-based Home Depot said employees arent to wear items that reflect political statements, but Lakes says she definitely will wear her hat to work again. I feel it offended a lot of people because a lot of (Donald) Trump supporters live in Staten Island, she told the Staten Island Advance, noting her hats send up of Trumps Make America Great Again slogan. Trump is very rash and in your face, but when someone else has a message against him, his supporters cant take the criticisms.

It has succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Where is the USSR now? It lives in untold government departments, private foundations, academic, religious, and cultural institutions, newsrooms, boardrooms, bedrooms . . . .
I find myself thinking of that often.
“But the bigger issue here is not whether the slogan is stupid or smart. The issue here is that a company would allow someone to wear it to work, and that she would insist she is going to continue to wear it to work.
If it is company policy, they should tell her not to wear it to work again. If she does, she should be fired on the spot.”
I agree. This will reflect very poorly on Home Depot is she is allowed to wear that hat.
Krystal Lake ???!!!!
Figgers. I never go to homo depot anyway.
Yeah. I can see some dummy wearing things like that in, and the supervisor tells them to take it off. Happens all the time.
Now, if she insists on wearing it, and they let her, that is different.
And Krystal was always stupid.
Some people are completely disgusting. This piss-ant woman is one of them.
Target, Ben and Jerry, JC Penney, Starbucks, Home Depot, Fox news, talk radio—the list is too long. I haven’t patronized them or been to these places in a long, some a very long time.
And it’s not entirely because I’m a crusty curmudgeon. They are entitled to run their businesses any way they want. But there isn’t any law (yet) that says I have to give them my business, so I don’t.
Angry Black woman...should’ve known.
“Yo, you better be respectin’ me yo!”
COMMUNISTS RAUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I’d have fired her long before she opened her register. Bet this isn’t the first moronic stunt she’s pulled.
“Here is where I disagree with you. In the last century the USA built the Panama Canal, the Hoover Dam, the trans continental highway system, fought and won two World Wars, went to the moon and made space travel common. In the past seven years, we added nearly $10 TRILLION to the National Debt and were downgraded TWICE. What do we have show for all that expense? The smallest Military since BEFORE WW2. The most people on Food Stamps ever. Need I go on?”
“Make America Greater” doesn’t have quite the same ring as “Make America Great Again”. :) I am not marketing person.
I totally agree with you that the national debt is out of control.
I also worry that a recession could hit us very easily and put us in a very bad situation.
The military may be smaller in head-count but that doesn’t bother me due to technological advancements. Spending in 2015 is $657b vs $600b in 2008 (inflation adjusted) so it is not correct to think that the US military is being gutted in any way from a capabilities point of view.
Food stamp usage peaked in 2013 (47.6 million in 2013 to 45.8 million in 2015 and that is with a population growth of over 3 million people in those 2 years). I do fear that another recession could happen at any moment and that food stamp trend could easily be reversed.
All of those amazing projects you listed were huge federal government funded projects which would be impossible to build in today’s political climate. Interesting fact: the debt on the Hoover Dam wasn’t paid back to the US Treasury until 1987.
There is no other country I would want to live in and that doesn’t change based on who the president is. The American spirit will prevail over any particular president.
She cant go back to Africa because she has not been to Africa - of any other country besides the U.S. That is true of a great many Americans of all ethnicity, of course (I myself turned 30 a couple of days into my first trip abroad - and that was Canada, which was hardly a transcendent culture shock). My point being that no one who says America was never great has any standing for that comment if who cannot name a country that they know to be better.
And even if she could point to such country, she would have to explain why she is still here, if she knows where life is better. And even that would not justify the historical claim that America was never great - only that she preferred (subjunctive mood) another country now.
Her best move would be to travel to Venezuela. That was a reasonably good country, a couple of decades ago. Now, after years of government as far from American ideals as possible, she can see what a country looks like - and feels, like, on an empty stomach - when it is actually is not great. People have been moving to America from India as fast as they can, to be in a country where the poor people are fat."
So, the rules of the company include not wearing anything political. She knows this, yet she says she will continue wearing the hat.
Is she going to be surprised when they fire/suspend her or cut her hours? Will she scream racism?
She certainly has Mooch’s “Resting Bitch Face”
She probably works with a bunch of homo loving racists that can’t figure out why people have a problem.
