Ted Cruz on Saturday used his first speech since dropping out of the presidential race not to endorse Donald Trump or urge Republican unity behind him, but to maintain that core conservatives can save America.
Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, countered by deploying a top surrogate who did his best to woo skeptical Texas conservatives. Addressing thousands of cheering delegates at the Texas Republican Convention, many of whom climbed to their feet and waved red-white-and-blue "Thank You Ted!" signs, Cruz repeated some of the same promises from his defunct White House campaign, like abolishing the IRS.
"People ask, 'Are you disappointed?' Of course you're disappointed," Cruz said. But he also insisted he remains optimistic about American conservatism. "That movement is far more important than any one campaign, far more important than one candidate," Cruz said. "We may face some challenges ahead, but I am convinced that movement, the men and women gathered here, will be the remnant, will be the core of the movement pulling this country back from the abyss."

Thanks! You posted a superb comment recently that I really should have complimented, as well. It was about people’s need to decide for themselves whether to support or oppose the Butcheress of Bagdad. When I got to the part, “Here endeth the lesson,” I burst out laughing. The whole thing was VERY good.
The poster who describe you as the passive aggressive troll was deadly accurate.
“I’m grateful to God for Ted Cruz.”
That doesn’t answer my question about which comes first, the cultist mentality or the cult leader’s manipulations, but interest in the subject begins to pall. Good riddance to false prophets.
Not only Cruz but some of his Never Trump supporters have the same mind set.
A son of one our younger relatives, lucked out and played with 3 championship Little League baseball teams and was a key player with a great batting average over 400. He and everybody on that team worked and practiced regularily, often when the managers couldn't..
His last team was a group of Cruz's fans. They thought that they could win without the skills and desire to win. They won the first two games and lost every game after those two wins. They never improved their skills and often had mercy endings of games because they were so far behind.
The younger relative's batting average never got above 200, and he never really worked at maintaining and improving his skills. His loser team mates did the same. They showed up for games with low energy and zero skills and got their butts kicked.
Yet, every loser on that team got a participation trophy. Our younger relative seemed happy until his older sister said, "Seriously, you are not going to put a loser trophy on the rack with your real winner trophies."
He pulled his name of the participation trophy and sold it in a neighborhood garage sale. He got $10 for it. Someone bought it for their son, who never won anything.
Very, very disappointed. All I can say. :-(
I promise not to ask then. ;^)
“Okay so we know they dislike Trump, I mean DUH very obvious . But for all of them to Dis a Elder Statesman just makes you ask where is their Character and Respect. This reveals their True Character and makes you understand Why this whole Election went the way it did.”
Well said. The childishness is stunning. They are just as bad as Obamabots.
Thanks.
Who doesn’t.
Cruz should Marry Romney - they are both twisted kooks.
Great story, Dave.
Cruz just really is not very smart.
That was a right and a left...
That was a right and a left...
No King but Jesus.
Did I mention Trump?
I don’t think he will but we’ll see.
If you start out recognizing that they're only human, maybe you won't be so tough on them when things don't work out.
Your nastiness is apparent.
Lying Ted and his Cruzlims crap all over everything but Hillary and the Democrats. Remember when Lying Ted and his sycophants jumped the shark and told us to STFU and bow down to BLM and MOVEON?
Yup, so do I and that’s why he’s a POS in my book.
