They might look honestly at Trump’s popularity. If there is a better candidate, that person would have already knocked Trump out of the primaries. As it turned out, the race wasn’t even close.

So the people don’t like the GOP establishment. It is time for the establishment (punditry as well as politicians) to pay attention to what the people want, and to go along with it. If they don’t want to, well, they can just go get lost. The voice of the people will not be silenced.

2016 was the closest primary since Goldwater-Rockefeller.

What infuriates the establishment is that Trump, Cruz, Carson (the top 3 for most of the race) are all unacceptably anti-establishment and they had over 70% of the primary vote.
Then consider Rubio was the ideal establishment candidate Crist.

The conservative establishment doesn’t want to admit that they are as out-of-touch with real people as the moderate establishment is.
