I was just commenting to my wife that I’m glad our snow season is over and how I’m not looking forward to next winter. Then, you send this.......
YOU gotta wonder how can a candidate get any traction at all without being able to answer the question “What are you top five accomplishments?”
This should make our side take a closer look at why people vote the way they do.
I understand. My point is this is similar to what managers were going through 20 to 30 years ago. Today, it’s worse but still similar.
If they say:
I have an 0bama phone
I get food stamps
I get unemployment
I love Bernie Sanders
You should NOT hire this person.
Yeah for sure.I get it.I think I’m able to keep employees for a reasonably longer period of time since I can always do anyone’s job better than they do and they know it.It you don’t have the respect from an employee it won’t work.
I don’t think there is much danger of that happening. They get a steady diet of talk radio all day long. If they can’t stomach that than they can leave.
Fox News Sunday Transcript - May 15, 2016
CNN State of the Union Transcript - May 15, 2016 (Manafort)
ABC This Week Transcript -May 15, 2016 (Senator Jeff Sessions)
A couple highlights ...
TAPPER: But, surely, you look at the negative ratings that Mr. Trump has with women at large and the general electorate and Latinos, and you think, going forward, it's going to be tough to win the White House if those negatives stay where they are.MANAFORT: Well, you know, this is one of these conventional wisdom facts that are not -- not cor$ Yes, there's some high negatives on the part of Trump right now, who has just come out of a very spirited contest. Hillary Clinton has got high negatives, too. And when you look at the recent Quinnipiac polls that came out last week which show Trump winning in Florida and even or slightly ahead in Ohio and Pennsylvania, you look at the gender gaps, and the real gender gap is a male gender gap on the part of Clinton, where she's got a bigger disparity between her -- her support for -- with men than Trump has with women.
And Jeff Sessions on ABC This Week ...
KARL: But where's the center of gravity now for this party?Because you've had a party that has been in favor of free trade agreements. It has been in favor of entitlement reform. It has been open to immigration reform, a path to citizenship. Those are all diametrically opposed to where Trump is.
So, where is the center of gravity now for the Republican Party?
SESSIONS: That's a good question, Jonathan. I would say it's with the movement Donald Trump is leading. He is leading the Republican Party, which is the Republican voter. And the Republican voter is adopting his views and not the views that too often we've seen out of Washington, Democrat and Republican.
And so I think he's showing real strength there. He's unifying the people who are going to say we want some change. We want better jobs, better wages. We don't want falling wages. We want an immigration system that protects our interests.
CBS Face the Nation Transcript - May 15, 2016
REP. PETER KING (R), NEW YORK: I'm supporting him as the nominee of the party, but I still have real questions with him as far as national security.I don't think his Asian policy is coherent, because, again, if he does want to get in a trade war with China, he has to explain how that coincides with him wanting to use China against North Korea. If he wants to have leverage over China, how can he be talking about taking troops out of Japan and Korea?
Does he know that it costs more to take the troops out than to leave them there? And does he realize that that would just weaken our leverage against China? I'm very concerned about this romance he seems to have with Putin.
And as far as his statement that he wants Russia take care of what is happening in Syria, that's Barack Obama's policy. But, again, there's a lot about Donald Trump I like. He's brought people into the Republican Party. He's brought in the blue-collar Reagan Democrats, which we had lost over the years.
So, there's a real chance here. But on the foreign policy, I want him to make his policy more coherent. I'm endorsing him. I'm going to vote for him. But before I can actively campaign, I have to see a much more coherent foreign policy.
Excerpt selected not to indicate agreement with King, but for a other reasons.
Note that King is endorsing Trump, not just supporting him, and this in spite of what King states as substantial policy differences.
Also, King is offering reasoned basis for disagreement on the foreign policy side, but he says he is open to persuasion.
Thanks. Meet the Press was preempted today for soccer coverage.
MANAFORT: Well, no I don't...and don't call me Shirley.
