It hardly seems like nearly a year has gone by since a biker shootout at a Waco Twin Peaks made national news, but the first anniversary of the deadly event is this Tuesday.
On Monday, CNN will commemorate this with a CNN Special Report, Biker Brawl: Inside the Texas Shootout. Maybe its just us, but isnt brawl too weak a word for a Sunday-afternoon gunfight in which nine men were killed, more than a dozen were wounded and 177 were arrested?
Ed Lavandera of CNNs Dallas bureau, who has been reporting on this for the past year, will anchor the report, which will feature, according to a release, graphic surveillance video, dramatic dash-cam footage, crime-scene photos and investigative documents much of it obtained exclusively by CNN.
Aside from the above statistics, 480 weapons were confiscated after the shootout between the Bandidos and Cossacks motorcycle clubs. Lavandera (who worked for WFAA/Channel 8 in his pre-CNN days) will talk to members of both clubs, including Jeff Pike, president of the Bandidos, and members who were involved in the shootout.
The hour-long special is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. CDT Monday on CNN.

Has it ever been disclosed how many of the dead and wounded were shot by law enforcement?
Brawl... battle... ambush?

4 Waco bikers killed in May shot by police rifles - report

Given that it’s CNN, I’d expect it to be a complete whitewashing and slack-jawed praise for the government.

There is a new podcast called Embedded that did its first episode on this event. Pretty eye-opening stuff. IMO, if you shoot someone over a patch, you kind of deserve to get shot by LE.

I still cringe at the thought of the obsession of some of the posters. Did not want to ping them so will withhold their screen names. Been a long year with lots of lives destroyed.
Thanks. I was wondering how many the police killed that day too. Almost half the number killed.
The article heavily favored the Bandidos side of the story, quoted the Aging Rebel guy a lot, etc.
One really interesting part of the written article on the CNN website. No mention of snipers, law enforcement gunning people down in a planned ambush, etc.
It’s bad when we have to wait for Vladimir Putin to put out the news
I wonder if the CNN video will also have audio. It would help determine whether or not there was fully automatic fire used to suppress the crowd as some vet bikers have averred.
