The last VP to be elected president when first eligible was Bush I in 1992. Before that, it was ... I don’t know, but it was before FDR. Truman and Johnson don’t count because they had already succeeded to the presidency before being elected to it. Nixon doesn’t count because it was eight years after he lost to Kennedy.

So looking for someone who could win in 2024 is not a good strategy. We need someone who can help Trump win (and be successful) NOW. Eight years from now is way too far in the future or predict who would make a good candidate.

Correction to self ... Bush I in 1988. He lost in 1992.

Whomever the VP is, must be able to run the government now.

And that person should run it with Trump’s vision.

Those are the two most important qualifications.

Winning in 2020 or 2024 is secondary, but would be a natural consequence once the above two qualifications are met.
