No, he was an American citizen born in Canada to an American mother. Right in line with the Immigration & Naturalization Act of 1952, which was in force when he was born.

As an American citizen at birth, he never had to be naturalized.

The question of whether he is considered *natural born* is a different question than whether he was born an American citizen. Which he was.

Nah, Cruz’s mom was a Canadian citizen when she gave birth to Ted.

Cruz could show US his paperwork... Then we would know when or if he has US citizenship. He would have paperwork. The responsibility is his. Ted Cruz’s parents did not give him ‘natural born’ US citizenship, and only they could give him ‘natural born’ US citizenship.
