Hillary: The Conservative Hope
Wall Street Journal ^ | 05/09/2016 | Bret Stephens

Posted on 05/11/2016 5:10:30 PM PDT by Cyberman

The best hope for what's left of a serious conservative movement in America is the election in November of a Democratic president, held in check by a Republican Congress. Conservatives can survive liberal administrations, especially those whose predictable failures lead to healthy restorations--think Carter, then Reagan. What isn't survivable is a Republican president who is part Know Nothing, part Smoot-Hawley and part John Birch. The stain of a Trump administration would cripple the conservative cause for a generation....

For conservatives, a Democratic victory in November means the loss of another election, with all the policy reversals that entails. That may be dispiriting, but elections will come again. A Trump presidency means losing the Republican Party. Conservatives need to accept that most conservative of wisdoms--sometimes, losing is winning, especially when it offers an education in the importance of political hygiene.

Sorry Bret. Twenty years ago you might of got away with this drivel but not today. We know you Uniparty types are all in bed together regardless of whether you have an R or D by your name. Trump is the guy who came upon the accident scene that all of you caused in the Republican Party, and you want to scapegoat him for the problems that were in the party long before he showed up. We’ll decide for ourselves four years from now if President Trump was a success or a failure. We don’t need you sellouts at the WSJ deciding for us anymore.

“The Fool writing this dribble has no idea of the freedoms that await to be removed under Hillary.”

On the contrary. He agrees with it. He pretends to be a fool to spread his poison. Like hussein o pretends to be a week president. But ask yourself how week do you have to be to do such destruction to the American military, health care, economy, etc. etc. That is strength Not weakness.

The author of the article in the WSJ is the former editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem post. Here’s what he said a week or so ago in that publication:

“Bernie Sanders worries me. Hillary Clinton worries me. Donald Trump worries me, and frankly Ted Cruz kind of worries me too,” says Stephens.

None are sufficiently pro-Israel for him. He is a single-issue guy. Rubio was his favorite re: foreign policy. He will do what he can for the next 6 months to ensure Clinton’s election.

“So....give whatever you can to help Cruz keep his conservative vision alive.”

No, he’s just hoping we won’t notice that part of it!

WSJ propagating the Smoot-Hawley meme/myth. What a joke the WSJ has become. If you haven't cancelled your subscription don't delay. Do it now.

Globalist agitprop bump.

Bret Stevens is too moronic for this world. He must be inhaling the fear sweat of the panicked financial elite.

How could Trump “stain” conservatism when he is not a true conservative, “serious” or otherwise? The “worse the better” concept satisfies the fantasies of revolutionaries and the masochism of martyrs. Stevens needs to stop staining his own britches and focus on making Trump the best president he can be, not on throwing the election to Hillary Clinton.

And the use of Executive Orders to get rid of the 2nd Amendment, and taxation through regulation of Departments (EPA and Education, just to name a couple) under the control of the Executive Branch, expansion of existing federal programs, and interim court and diplomatic appointments..plus a few other “conservative” assaults...
