No time limit. An application for a convention is valid until a state rescinds that application.

No, that is not accurate.

In the event that an Article V Convention is actually called, the Leftists will make a sustained effort to include themselves in the delegations - and intimidate those who are not like-minded. To some extent they will succeed.

This is as predictable as the next sunrise.

Proponents of the Convention have far too much optimism that the delegations will be inevitably dominated by conservative, liberty-minded people, and that the proceedings will follow a rule-of-law. It ain't necessarily so on either point. This must be factored into the planning.

To succeed in the cause of Liberty, the event planners must pay close attention to the selection of delegates and the rules to be followed at the Convention.

In particular, no proposal should be passed unless a supermajority of the delegates agree to it. This is necessary to prevent a united minority Leftist faction from dominating the Convention in the face of divided Conservative groups.

Planners must know who is selecting the delegates in every state, and who is being selected. You can bet that your Leftists counterparts will be keeping track. So will the Government agencies (Yes, there is some overlap here).

I have previously mentioned the need to plan for physical security of the delegates and their families back home. Should the Convention take a hard turn in the direction of limiting the Government, it is folly to assume the Leftists will restrict themselves to a war of unkind words.

Violence is a hallmark of the Left. They will not go quietly or voluntarily. This too must be factored into the planning.

Replacement delegates must be available from every State to counter the attrition as the Conference approaches. Alternates must be ready during the Conference to "pick up the torch" from those who need to leave - for whatever reasons.

The Conference must limit itself to one or two amendment proposals, pass them, declare "victory", and go home.

Then we have the sustained effort necessary to get the States to ratify the proposals.

It could all happen (maybe). That would be Victory.

Please check out the link in #15. State legislatures will appoint delegates limited by detailed commissions.

Here for instance, is the Indiana statute that will govern their delegate's commissions.
