Very true.

Trump is now going in hyper drive doing media engagements and as each day goes by he is inoculated against anything negative they throw at him.

Good point, and the media exposure probably explains why negative ads bounce off him. A negative ad only works against someone you don't know. Trump is a very well-known quantity and his nothing-to-hide, make-no-apologies-for-who-I-am attitude is why people dismiss negative ads directed against him as obviously false. They feel they already know the man.

I also suspect we've reached a tipping point in how social media is now demonstrably more effective than TV advertising, and Trump is the first candidate to demonstrate an effective mastery of that new medium in the political arena. Trump accomplishes more with a tweet than he could with a million-dollar ad buy in 6 "key markets". Another reason why he's under-spending his rivals by a lot and still outperforming them.
