PAID Paternity leave.
Now, In Calif-—
BOTH the new mother & the new father get PAID leave when a new baby comes.
IMO, this is complete discrimination and it needs to be taken to court.
Why is it discrimination? Because those of us who NEVER had a child are paying for the others who WISH to have a child.
I worked many an hour where the ‘mothers’ got time off to take their kids to the dentist or doctor or whatever. The workload always needed to get done by deadline. One or two missing workers & the rest of us had to hustle harder to fill the gap. No overtime, either. I cannot fully explain here without getting suspended how much animosity that created——no matter the company I was at.
It just plain isn’t fair-—and now they get full pay for having a kid & NOT SHOWING UP FOR WORK!!!!
California is working very hard to totally bankrupt every business there.
IF I were still in Calif & still in business, I would NEVER add any employees. I would only take work I could do by myself. Screw doing any expansion. It only would leave me with more headaches & less net money.
State employees in Michigan have the same deal. They can use their FMLA either unpaid, or can opt to use their sick, annual or compensatory leave credits for a paid leave.
