You say, much has changed; I say nonsense. There were people attending Trump’s rallies, people in their eighties, who felt they never had a reason to vote before he came along. Trump will be a game changer.
Or maybe the vote hasn't made much difference. If the candidates offered by both parties are "creeping progressives," voting can't keep a "creeping progressive" out of the office.

But the reasons for not voting are the key. Many people don’t vote because they don’t want to vote for the obvious socialists (who are actually Progressive), but they also don’t want to vote for the party that is out of touch with the working class.
Trump says to them, “I see an America where your future is more than some eventual outsourcing followed by years on the dole.” That appeals to people who have lost faith in the politicians and the banks and corporations who own them.
